Are You Always Rushed When You Present?
Do you feel you have too much to tell?
Do you want to finally break that habit?
Imagine presenting calmly. Clearly. In control.
Not working hard — but speaking effortlessly.
Presentation nerves do not necessarily, always come from the audience.
It may well be related to overload. Did you ever think of this?
Too much information.
Too many slides.
Too many thoughts competing for attention.
And when you feel you have to manage all of that at once, your nervous system goes into overdrive.
The solution is not to push harder in the moment.
It is to prepare differently.
To step up a level.
To create overview.
Because overview creates grip.
And grip calms your system.
An Example of What I Mean

In the image, you see an example of how I structure a presentation theme.
The theme in this case is:
“Presenting is about connection.”
That is simply the topic I chose for this example.
Under that theme, everything is organised into three clear elements:
Content – Performance – Slides
This structure allows me to speak about the same topic for:
- 3-5 minutes
- 15 minutes
- 45 minutes
The depth changes.
The message stays the same.
Besides the fact, that it is quite cool to know, that whether I have 5, 15 or 45 minutes, the message is still intact, this overview also gives me grip.
And this grip now, allows me to make conscious decisions that will help me break my overload pattern.
For example:
- If you only have 30 minutes, you move part of the content to a handout.
- You decide to go deeper on Content and keep Slides simple.
- You invest more in Performance and reduce detail elsewhere.
- You consciously choose what not to include.
That is preparation that gives freedom.
Not adding more.
But deciding clearly.
And that is also how you manage nerves.
When you know exactly:
- what you will cover,
- what you will not cover,
- and why,
Your system relaxes.
You are no longer reacting.
You are choosing.
You don’t solve overwhelm at the same level where it was created.
You step up, create overview, and then decide.
That is where calm begins.
That is where grip begins.
And ultimately, that is where real connection begins.
Kind regards,
