Taming Presentation Nerves with a Simple Breathing Tool
Presentation nerves are something I see almost daily in my work. While many people wish those nerves would just disappear, it’s important to remember they play a valuable role: helping you stay focused, alert, and ready. The goal isn’t to eliminate nerves, but to tame them.
There are many strategies that can help—some practical, some physiological, and some purely physical. The advantage of physical tools is that they are always with you, ready when you need them. Breathing techniques are one of the most effective.
In my latest YouTube video, I demonstrate a quick and evidence-based method known as the physiological sigh. This simple two-step breathing technique can calm your nervous system within moments, making it a reliable tool for managing presentation stress. Learn the what, why, and how of the physiological sigh, and keep it in your toolbox for the next time nerves arise.
With this fast, accessible method, you’ll be able to steady yourself and step into your presentation with greater confidence.
